Getting Started with the Loreden Bot

The Loreden Discord bot brings your characters into your server — dice rolling, profile lookups, stats on demand, and more, all without leaving Discord.

Inviting the bot

The bot needs to be added to your server by someone with the Manage Server permission. Visit loreden.net and find the bot invite link. Once added, Loreden will appear in your server's member list.

note

You don't need to do anything in Discord to set up your personal characters — that's all handled on loreden.net. The bot just lets you use them in the server.

Linking a character to a channel

Each Discord channel can have one active character at a time. Linking a character means the bot will use that character's stats whenever rolls are made in that channel.

!setchar Your Character Name

To check which character is currently linked:

!showchar

To remove the link:

!setchar off

Multiple characters across channels

You're free to link different characters to different channels. Many players have a dedicated "dice rolls" channel where they link their current character, and keep other channels free.

Rolling from the web

You can also roll from the Studio on loreden.net — the interface shows all your character's stats with clickable roll buttons. If your character is linked to a Discord channel, the roll result is automatically posted there too.

Permissions and admin settings

The Loreden bot respects your server's existing channel permissions — it will only post in channels it has access to. No special roles or setup are required beyond inviting the bot.

Some commands (like adding to the knowledge base) are restricted to server admins.

Getting help

Type !help in any channel where the bot is active to see a list of available commands.
