Maps
Loreden's map feature lets you upload an image of any campaign map and turn it into an interactive reference — adding pins for locations, attaching notes, and linking directly to worldbuilding entries.
Uploading a map
From the Worldbuilding section, open the Maps tab and click New Map. Upload any PNG or JPG image — player-facing maps, GM maps, city plans, dungeon blueprints, anything works.
Once uploaded, the map opens in the interactive editor. You can zoom in and out and pan around freely.
Adding pins
Click anywhere on the map to place a pin. Each pin can have:
- Name — the location's name as it appears in a tooltip
- Pin type — controls the icon displayed on the map (see below)
- Notes — free-text description visible when you click the pin
- Worldbuilding entry link — attach the pin to an entry in your worldbuilding section so readers can jump straight to the full lore article
Pins can be dragged to reposition them at any time.
Pin types
Loreden includes a set of pin icons to give your map visual clarity at a glance:
| Icon | Use for |
|---|---|
| City | Large settlements |
| Town | Medium settlements |
| Village | Small settlements |
| Dungeon | Adventure sites and ruins |
| Castle | Fortifications and keeps |
| Forest | Wilderness and wooded areas |
| Mountain | Mountain ranges and peaks |
| Port | Harbours and coastal towns |
| Ruins | Abandoned or destroyed sites |
| Cave | Underground entrances |
| Temple | Shrines, churches, and sacred sites |
| Camp | Temporary encampments |
Sharing maps
Maps follow the same sharing rules as other worldbuilding content. You can give other users view or edit access, making collaborative campaign cartography straightforward.
Importing from map generators
If you've generated a map with a tool like Perilous Shores, you can import the generator's location data directly. Loreden reads the exported file and places pins automatically based on the generator's output, saving you from pinning every location by hand.
